30-Day Hawke Challenge


Day 1: The Basics

Day 3: The Little Things

Does your Hawke have any scars/tattoos? How/why did they get them?

Any accessories/makeup they tend to wear?
   Do the accessories have any personal significance?
   Why do they wear the makeup? To look pretty? To hide imperfections? To highlight natural assets?



Day 4: Fashion!

Do they dress for practicality or appearance?
What do they wear when they're not fighting?
What are their armor/robes like?
Come up with your own idea for the perfect 'home outfit' for your Hawke.
Likewise, how would you re-design the in-game underwear to better fit your Hawke's personal tastes?



Day 5: Personality

Day 6: Family

How did Malcolm Hawke die in your headcanon? When he died, how did it affect Hawke?
What happened to Bethany and Carver? How did Hawke deal with the sudden death of their sibling during the family's escape from the Blight? What sort of effect did the other sibling's fate have upon Hawke and their mother?
How did Leandra's death affect Hawke and their relationship with Gamlen and their remaining sibling, if they still lived?
What does Hawke think about Charade?
How does Hawke feel about the way her mother ran off with her father, abandoning the rest of her family in the pursuit of love?
How does Hawke feel regarding their mother's cousin and the plight of her family, whose children who were all mages taken away to the Circle?
Is family important to Hawke? Do they think family is restricted to those related by blood and marriage?



Day 7: Friends

How does Hawke feel/think about each companion upon first meeting them? Do these feelings change at all over the seven years they live in Kirkwall? If so, how?
Who are their best friends? Who do they clash with most often?
Which non-companion NPCs would they be friends with?
How did Hawke get their mabari? What did they name him and why?



Day 8: Sexuality

What is Hawke's sexual orientation? Does it change at all?
How do they feel when a member of the opposite sex flirts with them? How about members of the same sex?
Do they play the field, or are they strictly monogamous?
Did they take Jethan up on his offer/visit the Blooming Rose for fun?
Who were their past lovers, if any?
Do they need to be in love/have feelings for someone before they'll have sex with them?
How do they feel about sex before marriage?
Sebastian's 'chaste marriage' idea: laughable or doable?



Day 9: Love

Who was/were Hawke's romantic interest(s)?
What attracted Hawke to him/her/them?
Are they more likely to cuddle in front of a fireplace together or scream at one another?
What common interests/hobbies do they have?
What is the biggest bone of contention between them?
What was their first kiss like? (This doesn't have to be a kiss shown in-game. Feel free to make up whatever would fit your personal headcanon.)
Are they truly in love, or merely infatuated?
Do they have any past loves? What's the story with those?
If Hawke doens't have any love interest: Why not?



Day 10: The First Years in Kirkwall

Who did Hawke choose to work for? Why? How did that work out?
Did Hawke manage to make the money needed for the Deep Roads expedition on their own, or did they take the loan from Dougal?
Who did they take along with them for the expedition?
Did they offer to go looking for Sandal when he wandered off?
What was their reaction to Bartrand's betrayal?
Did they make a deal with the possessed rock wraith? Why or why not?
How did they feel when they finally got home from the expedition?  Was it worth it, to them?



Day 11: The Next Three Years

How does Hawke take to the life of a noble?
What is Hawke's opinion regarding the Qunari and the situation with Seamus wanting to convert to the Qun? Did they side with Petrice at all?
Helping their companions... (Answer only for the ones your Hawke did.)
   What did they think of Aveline's attempts at courting Donnic?
   What was their reaction to Fenris killing Hadriana? What happened to Orana?
   Did they convince Anders to not kill Ella? How did they treat him after the incident?
   How did they handle the possessed/crazy Bartrand?
   Did they allow Merrill to have the Arulin'Holm?
   Did they encourage Sebastian to remain with the Chantry or take back his lands? What did Hawke think of the events they witnessed at the Harimann estate?
   What was Hawke's reaction to finding out what Isabela's lost treasure really was? Did the pirate come back, or take off for good?
What was Hawke's opinion of Meredith and Orsino? Who did they put in charge of forming a plan to deal with the Arishok's takeover of the Viscount's keep?
How did things play out with the Arishok? Duel? An all-out brawl? Did they hand over Isabela in order to get the Qunari to leave peacefully?



Day 12: The Last Three Years in Kirkwall

Who did Hawke side with outside the keep? Or did they refuse to take sides?
Which companions did they help this time around?
   Did they assist Anders with every step of his plan?
   What happened to Fenris' sister?
   Did Isabela ever get a new ship?
   What was the fate of the Dalish clan?
   Was Aveline's good name restored?
   Did Varric get to keep a piece of the idol?
Did Emile ever get any?
What was Hawke's reaction to the chantry explosion?
   Did they let Anders live? Why or why not?
Did they side with the templars or the mages? Why?
   If Bethany was a Circle mage and Hawke sided with the templars: Was Hawke cold enough to kill their own sister?
Who sided with Hawke, and which of their companions refused to stand with them in the battle? For those who went against them: What happened when Hawke had to face them?
Which of the people you helped over the years showed up to give you a hand during the final battle?



Day 13: The Cameos

Alistair: What role did he play - King, Warden, or Drunk? What was Hawke's opinion of him?
Zevran: Did Hawke help him or decide to hand him over? If they helped him, how did they react to his proposition?
Nathaniel: Did Anders get to have a reunion with his fellow Warden? How did that go? What did Hawke think about the secrecy surrounding the reason why the Wardens were so interested in following the route the expedition took?
Leliana: What do you think happened when she went looking for the Warden?



Day 14: Templars Vs. Mages

Describe why your Hawke made the choices they did over the years regarding the many times they ran into mages - both good and bad - while living in Kirkwall.
Did they side with the templars at all, even if just to get on Meredith's good side?
Were they more or less sympathetic toward the mages because of their situation growing up in a family with (at least) two apostates in it?



Day 15: Spirituality

What does Hawke believe in? Are they a devout Andrastian or do they have no faith in the Maker at all?
How do they prefer to practice their religion, if they do?
Do their beliefs cause any conflicts with between them and their companions, or perhaps strengthen the bonds between them?
Does Hawke see any logic to the Qun?



Day 16: Greatest Desires

Hawke's friends fell to temptation in the Fade. What would a demon have to offer in order to get Hawke to give in? Or is Hawke completely unshakable?



Day 17: Fears & Superstitions

What are Hawke's deepest fears?
How do they react when faced with something they fear? Do they openly show they're afraid or try to hide it from others?
Can anyone tell when they're afraid, even if they try to hide it? Who and how?
Does Hawke have any superstitions?
Does Hawke keep any lucky charms?



Day 18: Regrets

What are Hawke's biggest regrets in life?
How have their regrets helped to shape them into the person they are? Do they affect their relationships with others in any way?
If they could go back in time and fix things to be rid of those regrets, would they do it? Why or why not?



Day 19: Motivation

Why did Hawke make the decisions they did over the years? Go into detail about who influenced them - either those from their past or currently in their life - and explain any past events which might have also affected their decision-making process.



Day 20: Morality

What is Hawke's moral alignment? (Check here for descriptions of the different classes of moral alignment.) Why do you think their alignment is such? Do their morals change at all during their time in Kirwall? If so: Why? What caused the change in their morality to take place?



Day 21: Leadership

What is your Hawke like as a leader?
How does Hawke like being the leader of their group? Would they rather someone else took the reigns? If so: Who and why?
How do Hawke's companions feel about their leadership skills?
Why do they continue to follow Hawke for nearly a decade?
If any of the companions permanently left the group, who did so and why?



Day 22: Weapons and Spells

Describe Hawke's favorite weapons and armor. (Provide pictures, if available.)
How did Hawke acquire these items? Do they have any special significance to them?
What are their specializations? Did anyone influence their decision to take up these specializations or did they simply discover a natural talent for them?
What skills/spells do they use most often and why?



Day 23: Fighting Style

What is Hawke's preferred fighting style? Do they like to get up close and personal or hang back while others rush in?
Do they change their style when fighting alone rather than being in a group?
Which of their companions best compliments their style out on the field?
Does their fighting style change depending upon which of their companions is with them?



Day 24: Talents and Hobbies

What does Hawke do during his/her free time? Do they prefer solo activities or things they can do with their friends? Why?
Does Hawke have any special talents? (singing, dancing, tying cherry stems with their tongue, etc.) Do they share their talents with others, or are they a big secret?



Day 25: Gifts

Hawke gives gifts to everyone in his/her party, but doesn't get anything back from their cheapskate friends. Time to change that! Choose one gift for each companion to give to Hawke. Tell us what he/she gets from each one, why they gave him/her that particular gift, and whether or not Hawke likes it.



Day 26: Possessions

Name five things Hawke always has on their person, aside from weapons and armor. Describe the reasons why they keep these things on hand.
What objects - if any - did they make sure to grab before fleeing Lothering? Why? Is there anything they forgot/didn't have time to get that they wish they could go back for?
What objects do they make sure to take with them when they leave Kirkwall, and why?



Day 27: NPCs

Choose four non-companion NPCs - anyone you want - and describe Hawke's thoughts/feelings about them. Then, describe what you think their opinions are of Hawke.



Day 28: Food & Drink Comparisions

The writers of Dragon Age: Origins drew comparisons between each of the companions and the food item and drink they felt best fit each of their personalities. Do the same for your Hawke. Make sure you describe why you chose the food/drink you did for Hawke. Also, describe what Hawke is like when drunk.
    (Optional) For fun, choose a food and/or drink item to represent each of Hawke's companions, based on Hawke's feelings toward them. Also explain why each one was chosen.



Day 29: Soundtrack

Choose a list of songs which fit Hawke and his/her life - before, during, and after Kirkwall. Explain why you chose each song, and be sure to include links to the songs so that others who might not be familiar with them can listen to them. (YouTube is a good place to find them.) Make sure to choose at least one song to describe the relationship between Hawke and their love interest. For a Hawke with multiple notches on their bedpost, choose a song for each relationship.
    (Optional) Pick a song to represent each of Hawke's companions. This can either be from Hawke's perspective, or just a song you generally think fits them.



Day 30: Now What?

What happened when Hawke left Kirkwall? Go into as much detail as possible.
    Where did each of Hawe's companions end up?
    Where do you see Hawke being in five years?

Day 31: Legacy

Who did Hawke take with them to the Vimmark Mountains? Why?
    Did they change their mind about who to take between the outer ruins and the underground prison? If so, who changed and why did they make that decision?
How did Hawke feel about seeing their father's ghost in the ruins? How did they take the revelation that their father was a blood mage?
Did Hawke side with Janeka or Larius? Why?
    (Optional) What do you think will happen, considering the ending of the DLC?



Day 32: Mark of the Assassin

What was Hawke's first impression of Talis?
Who did Hawke end up taking with them to Chateau Haine and why?
    What was their impression of Duke Prosper and his guests? What did they think of Cahir?
Did Hawke choose to sneak to the inner fault, or cut a path through the guards? Did Talis have any influence upon this decision? Why or why not?
How did Hawke take the revelation of Talis being a Qunari assassin? DId their initial reaction change at all after hearing her story?
Did Hawke agree to help Talis, or leave her behind? Why? Did they part on civil terms, or has Hawke made another enemy?
(Optional) It probably took at least a few days to travel from Kirkwall to Chateau Haine and back. Describe what a typical day on the road was like for Hawke & Co., either to or from Orlais.
