Dragon Age Headcanon: Alistair's Rose

Ah... Alistair's Rose. It's quite obvious after listening to Leliana's story about the reason why she decided to leave the Chantry to join you and hearing Alistair talk about where he found that rose that they're talking about the exact same flower. And, miraculously, that rose remains as perfect and whole as if it had been freshly picked for however long Alistair holds onto it before giving it to the girl he loves. So the Maker's hand is at work there, somehow... What if it wasn't there to give Leliana a sign, but so that Alistair would see it and give it to his beloved? What if that single rose plays a much larger part in everything than Alistair or Leliana or the Warden or anyone could have ever imagined?

Yes, this entire thing is just part of a much more complex headcanon of mine. No, I will not indulge you with any further details. It would spoil things for you. You're just going to have to read and wait to find out what the bigger picture is.
